Azrael looks down bitterly. AZRAEL: "Yes, he has a way of doing that. He takes things out on everyone else because he hates himself the most." AKIVA: "Was he always like that?" We flashback to the 1700s, when Azrael and Bahram were still human, still Ora and Nikita. Azrael remembers hauling up Nikita's weak, bloody body on the grassy hill. AZRAEL: "I think so. But it obviously got worse when he was corrupted and worse still when he became a Hellhound. I saved his life when he escaped his home village, you see. He always wanted desperately to be seen as a hero, someone who conquered greatness." Azreal remembers the look Nikita gave him that day, his eyes not yet snake-like as they are now but still dark, his face covered in blood and dirt. AZRAEL: "And a part of me really thought he had good in him. And I was just so lonely. I thought, finally, here's a person who understands me. Here's a person who wants me around."
