Akiva wraps up her tale of woe.
Comic transcript
Back to Remy's apartment. Akiva shrugs with an awkward smile, one foot up on the coffee table. AKIVA: "So here I am." REMY: "Holy shit. How'd you get released?" AKIVA: "Well, they spent hours grilling me, but I couldn't tell them the truth. How do I even explain the whole spirit sight thing?" Remy's hairless cat stretches on the floor, wearing a hand-knit sweater that reads 'Olive'. Cut to a flashback. Akiva and a large cop sit in a white interrogation room. COP: "What were you doing in that alleyway, exactly?" Akiva closes her eyes, arms folded. COP: "We can do this all night if we have to." Akiva thinks, "I have the right... to remain... silent." As the clock moves from 12:05 AM to 5:42 AM to 7:51 AM, Akiva's head dips to rest on the table. Back to the present. A cuckoo clock chimes on the wall. AKIVA: "After some witnesses led them to a real suspect with actual evidence, they had no reason to keep me, so they let me go." Remy's cat sits snoozing on Akiva's lap. REMY: "Oh. Uh... Are you hungry or anything?" AKIVA: "Nah. Thinking about corpses kinda takes it outta you." REMY: "I'm sorry." AKIVA: "It's chill." REMY: "Do you want company?" AKIVA: "Not really."
